Sensory trail launch

The Friends of Moreleta Kloof Nature Reserve (FMK) is planning on building a sensory trail on existing routes in the reserve, which will be accessible for people with disabilities and will give them the opportunity to get away from an artificially built up environment and out into nature – all while still being in town. We will have the full document available at the launch, on the 17th of February 2011, or you can request it to be e-mailed.

The route will consist of an 2.2 km trail, with a 1.5 meter wide concrete pathway. Some parts of the route will stay natural and we will also make use of existing stretches of tarred roads. There will be a bird hide overlooking the dam as well as two rest points, accessible for persons in wheel chairs. An environmentally friendly, wheelchair accessible toilet will be built on the route. Furthermore there will be a meditation sanctuary among the White Stinkwood Trees along the Rademeyers Spruit.

The Reserve falls under Tshwane Nature Conservation, who currently cannot assist the FMK financially – but are in full support of the initiative. We are looking for possible sponsors, to help us fund this R 1.8 million project, that will benefit many people that could otherwise not visit this reserve, with all the beauty and tranquillity that it has to offer.

The project launch will take place on the 17th of February, 2011 and will be held in the reserve, starting at 16:00. If you are interested in attending the launch please contact us on

Blind persons, persons with disabilities and in Wheel chairs and the elderly. They have very few facilities where they can relax with their families and friends.
Who wants to relax in a shopping Centre? Please support this project.
