Events in August and September 2014

On 30 August 2014 from 07:00 – 09:30 join us for a walk with Rudie Bezuidenhoudt to talk about the wetlands of Moreleta Kloof Nature Reserve.

Cost: R40 per person

This is the first speaker we have that will join us to talk about this important subject. This month we have seen quite a lot of sewerage leaks spilling into the water sources and walkways in our reserve. The talk will about the importance of these meadows in nature.

We meet in the parking lot of the reserve. Please remember to bring something to eat and drink, as well as your camera /binoculars.
On the 13th of September we once again everyone that visit our reserve regularly to join for a clean up session of the reserve.

We meet in the reserve parking lot at 07:00, and you can assist for as long or short as you can. We have kids that join us every year, and they enjoy going into the water and bushes to get all the litter out. It ends up being more fun than work!

Please wear clothes you are not afraid of getting a little dirty, and some refreshments for yourself. We provide the bags and will ensure it is removed from the reserve.

On 1 November 2014 from 07:00 until around 09:30 – Bird Ringing with Hein Bantjes and his team of ringers, followed by an interesting talk on bird ringing and photography.

Join us for a interesting morning of bird ringing – see how they catch the bird, weigh and help release the birds again afterwards.

People with disabilities are most welcome to join as the route to the bird hide is easy to navigate and mostly paved.

There is no cost, but  you are welcome to make a donation to the Friends of the Moreletakloof that help with the upkeep of the reserve.
