Clean Up Day 18 September 2010

Wêreld Skoonmaak Week: Skoonmaak van Rademeyers pruit in die Moreletakloof, Helios Straat, Moreleta Park.

Ons wil baie graag op die 18de September die Rademeyerspruit, in Moreletakloof, Natuur Reservaat skoonmaak. Mans en vrouens wat gewillig sal wees om langs die spruit in die bosse, die vuilgoed wat van die strate van Moreletapark af, in die stormwaterinlate tot in ons mooi spruit gespoel word, bymekaar te maak, en ook takke te verwyder, sal ons baie kan help.
Natuurbewaring sal steekysters  en sakke voorsien en ek sal sorg vir plastiese handskoene, van Collect-a-Can.
Hierdie is een van die mooiste Reservate in Pretoria, wat n sterk stroom water het, wat afkomstig is uit n fontein slegs 500 meter van die Kloof, maar die straatgemors bly n groot probleem.
As u belangstel om te help, kan u ons kontak, sodat ons kan ooreenkom oor n tyd wat almal die beste sal pas.

World Clean Up Week: Clean up of Rademeyer’s stream in Moreleta Kloof, Helios Street, Moreleta Park

We would like to clean the Rademeyer’s stream on the 18th September 2010, in the Moreleta Kloof Nature Reserve.
We need men and woman who will be willing to walk along the spruit among the bushes, to clear out all garbage from the streets of Moreleta Park, that end up in the Kloof via the stormwater drains. This will take a few hours, of hard work. Gloves and bags will be supplied by Nature Conservation.

Making Moreleta Kloof wheelchair friendly

WE ARE PLANNING A WHEELCHAIR FRIENDLY MORELETA KLOOF (ALSO CATERING FOR THE VISUALLY IMPAIRED)

The Friends of Moreleta Kloof Nature Reserve are planning a walk in the Moreleta Kloof, which will be followed with soup and sherry at Rademeyers. We will walk along the planned wheelchair friendly route.

We will start the walk at 11:00 and finish at around 12:30, on the 31st of July 2010.

This is a very important event, please join us and become part of the team.  Please let us know if you will be there by contacting Rademeyers at 012 998 1693 or by emailing us on info@moreletakloof.co.za, so that we know how many people to prepare for. It is only R45 for the soup, bread and sherry.

Birdwatching day, 12 June 2010

The Moreleta Kloof Nature Reserve, along with Faansie Peacock, will be hosting a bird watching day on Saturday 12 June 2010. The walk will start at 08:00 AM and end around 12:00 PM.

Entrance is free of charge, just bring your birding gear and yourself! A few snacks and something to drink will also be a good idea while we are out in the veld. Vehicles can be safely parked inside the reserve.

During the last birdwatching day in February 2010, more than 70 species were identified.

Afterwards, you can enjoy a meal at the Voerkraal.

Die VRIENDE VAN MORELETAKLOOF nooi u uit om saam met u familie en vriende, op die 15de Mei , om 07.30  in die Moreletakloof te kom stap.

Kom stap op die mooiste wandelpaadjies wat kronkel tussen die groot bome onder in die Kloof, langs die Rademeyerspruit.

Dis jul keuse van hoe lank julle wil stap, daar is drie roetes, waarvan die Rademeyersroete, selfs geskik is vir stootwaentjies, en meer gelyk is. Pak n heerlike ontbyt in n rugsak en gaan eet langs die spruit, op n kombers onder die bome, en geniet die mooiste natuurskoon.

Dis n fees vir ouers en kinders, om hier in die middel van Moreletakloof in so n mooi Natuur Reservaat saam te verkeer.  Die roetes strek oor 7.5 km op 100 hektaar, wat wissel van grasvlaktes, digte bos met die mooiste romantiese paadjies, tot vleilande met die grootste verskeidenheid voëls. Onthou asseblief die kamera.

Daar is ook die opsie van n Buffet-ontbyt wat bedien sal word by Rademeyers, tussen 10 en 11.30, maar u moet asseblief vroegtydig bespreek by 012 998 1693. Die koste beloop R49.00, wat vrugtesap, ontbyt en koffie insluit, en kinders tussen 6-12 jaar, R25.00.

U kan ook aansluit by die Vriende van Moreletakloof, teen R200 per jaar, per gesin, waarvoor u twee gratis toegange kan kry vir twee volwassenes en twee kinders onder 18, in die volgende Reservate, Groenkloof, Rietvlei, Faerie Glen en Wonderboompoort.

Kom stap saam en word n Vriend van hierdie Reservaat, wat met soveel liefde deur Natuurbewaring (Pta-Oos), onderhou en beskerm word. So min mense besef werklik watter mooi groen area, hier , gratis besoek kan word, en deur u kinders gebruik kan word, om die Natuur beter te leer ken. Uitstekende bron, vir baie skooltake en projekte, die mooiste veldplante, voëls, sampioene , fungi en bokke en volstruise.

The FRIENDS OF MORELETAKLOOF would like to invite you and your family and friends for a walk in our serene and beautiful Nature Reserve in the middle of Moreletapark.

You can stroll on the most romatic grass pathways down to the Rademeyerspruit, among massive old White Stinkwoodtrees, with the sound of water, that will follow you most of the route. You have a choice of three routes, but the best, is do it all, its only 7,5km in this 100 hecture green area. The Rademeyerroute is the flattest, and you can even walk with a pram, up to the damwall. Pack your breakfast ( and remember the blanket to sit on),and come and sit and eat under the trees  with the song of birds to serenade you.

Its free, and your car will be safely parked inside the Reserve, at the gate.

Everbody will enjoy this, and if youre lucky, you might see a fairy under a colourful mushroom. The children will have a feast!

The children can make use of this Reserve for school projects and class assignments, and learn to care for our green areas.

You could also have a buffet-breakfast at Rademeyers, for R49.00 (which include fruit juices, breakfast and coffee), children between 6 and 12 years, R25.00. Please phone to book for this breakfast ( 012 998 1693).

You can also become a FRIEND OF MORELETAKLOOF  at only R200 per year per family, and for that you get two, free visits, for a family of four, to Rietvlei-, Groenkloof-, Faerieglen- and Wonderboompoort Reserve’s. We need the community to help with the upkeep and to preserve and secure this Reserve.

Last Friends Meeting for 2009

The last FMK (Friends of Moreleta Kloof) meeting for 2009 will be held on Thursday 26 November at Rademeyrs, starting 17:30. We will be serving Lasagne, salad and wine after the meeting. We need to know the number of Friends attending beforehand for catering purposes, please RSVP before 15:00 Tuesday 24 November on info@moreletakloof.co.za.

Anyone is welcome to attend, whether you are a current friend, looking to join or simply has an interest in the Moreleta Kloof.

Meeting 13 August

Vriende van die Moreleta Kloof

Dit is tyd dat ons weer lekker saam kuier, en gesels oor die Kloof wat maar swart en vaal lyk op die stadium, maar die Lente is oppad.

Die natuurbewaring mense het hul hande vol gehad met die veldbrande waarvan die laaste twee gestig was, en met groot moeite onder bedwang gebring was,

Min mense besef hoeveel  Natuurbewaring en die Stadsraad bydrae tot die mooi Kloof hier in ons midde, waarvan so min mense gebruik maak.

Ons wil hulle graag bedank vir hul bydrae, maar saamhangend kan ons nie verwag dat hulle alles doen en ons doen nie eers die moeite  om ons deel  te bring deur aan te sluit by die Vriende van die Kloof, en ook om direk betrokke te wees by die onderhoud, en bemarking  van hierdie juweel.

Daar sou  n Vriende-vergadering gewees het op die 30ste Julie, maar ongelukkig pas die datum nie een van die bestuur nie. Ons het besluit op die 13 de Augustus om 17.30nm, by die Rademeyers Restuarant, en wil u graag uitnooi  om dit by te woon.

Laat asseblief weet of u die vergadering sal bywoon.

Friends of Moreleta Kloof

We need to get together, to talk about  the Kloof, which is situated right in the middle of Moreleta Park. Have you ever taken a walk in the Kloof, what an unbelievable experience?

We had two serious fires in the last few weeks, started by unknown people, in Rutgers Street.

Nature Conservation and the City Council spend a lot of money and time to keep this Reserve safe and well looked after. They spend hours in the park, to take out all the alien species and do fire-breaks, so that the animals can be safe and well fed. We need to do our part, to be a friend of the Moreleta Kloof and to help them sustain this lovely piece of nature among us.

We did plan to meet on the 30th July, but it did not suit any of the management. Would you like to join us on the 13th August at 17.30, for a meeting at  Rademeyers . Please let me know if you will attend.

Omgewingsdag

Omgewingsdag vieringe in die Moreleta Kloof:  Vanaf 09:00, op die 6 de Junie 2009

Kom geniet die oggend saam met ons in die Moreletakloof, Heliosstraat, Moreletapark. Daar sal van 9 uur af heerlike koffie en beskuit bedien word [geborg deur Spar]  terwyl ons in groepe verdeel om saam ons deel te bring, om ons eie gedeelte van Moreletaspruit skoon temaak, so ons gaan bosse toe, trek asseblief ou stapskoene aan. Daar sal ook ‘n Groenmark aangebied word by Rademeyers. Die Vriende van Moreletakloof sal vrywillige donasies aanvaar, wat aangewend sal word om bome aan te koop vir boomplantdag in September. Daar sal inligting verskaf word oor die Kloof en hoe om aan te sluit, as Vriend van die Moreletakloof.  [Vir meer inligting besoek die Klip Boma tussen die Kerk en Kapel.]

Ouers en kinders kan saam stap vanaf 09.30, nadat almal in groepe verdeel is saam met ‘n leier [plastiese sakke en handskoene sal voorsien word]. Die skoonmaak sal net tot 11.30 neem, waneer almal met hul sakke vuilgoed terugkom na die beginpunt [Klip Boma]. Daar sal verversings te koop aangebied word en u kan die Groenmark besoek, op die terrien. Die kinders kan ondertussen n “Kunsklas” bywoon waar hulle geleer word hoe om musiekinstrumente uit rommel te maak.Om 12:00 sal daar n prysuitdeling wees, vir die kinders wat deelgeneem het aan die skoonmaak. 

Kom geniet die oggend saam die familie in die Moreletakloof, en bring u deel om ons omgewing weer mooi te maak.

Election Day 2009

On 22 April, South Africans turned up at voting stations across the country in their millions. The voting station that used to be on the corner of Helios and Rubenstein in Moreleta Park, was moved to Rademeyers this year, presenting the Friends of Moreleta Kloof with a golden opportunity to make area residents aware of the Kloof. Rademeyers Restaurant also made a family day out of it, with jumping castles, food and drinks on sale and live entertainment.

It is almost shocking to see how little people know of this beautiful reserve that is right under their noses. People drive past it on their way to work every day without even knowing noticing the zebras standing next to the road.

The FMK, together with Tshwane Nature Conservation and The Green Market put up a stand at the exit of the voting station showcasing the Kloof and sustainable living. A snake show was held to teach kids to not be afraid of snakes and to respect them and the important role they play in nature. All in all the day was a huge success with plenty of interest shown in the Kloof.
